It is really tough to answer this question accurately over the phone. We try and be as transparent as possible when giving price quotes over the phone but many times we do need to see your iPhone to adequately asses the damage/cost. We have been doing repairs for iPhones and other iDevices for a few years now and spot many things that our competition or clients do not. This is not to be nit-picky, too often we see shortcuts taken and repairs coming to us from other shops that if done properly would have saved the customer their time and money since they would have not needed the second repair. Service Nerd will never over charge you, if we know the Apple store is offering a repair that we cannot or has a better price (very, we mean very, rare! you can check for yourself here Apple store iPhone repairs), if it is something easy you can do yourself we will tell you before we offer to do the service for you. All of that being said we are very competitive with our pricing, we will try and save you money any way we can with quality being the only exception, and most repairs can be done between $50 and $100 dollars.
If your iPhone is ever exposed to any moisture or liquid the absolute first thing to do is POWER OFF the iPhone. Once the iPhone is off, go online and schedule your iPhone repair. NEVER plug in your iPhone if you even suspect the exposure to liquid/moisture to be minimal. When you plug in your iPhone you are adding much more power than your battery can generate on its own. This will only serve to make the problem worse, too often clients will try everything they can as a means to figuring out how bad the damage is. We understand the significance your iPhone plays in your life and following these steps will make it significantly easier to clean/repair your device and have in your hand vs ending up in our iPhone graveyard.
Should I plug in my iPhone to see if it will still turn on?
This has such a huge impact on our ability to restore liquid damage in iPhones. Your batter will only put a small amount of electrical current through the device, this can still cause damage, but when you plug in your iPhone you are injecting a much higher electrical current that will undoubtable cause exponentially more damage.
Can I just put it in rice for a day or two, see if it works and then bring it to you?
You will find many videos on youtube claiming this to be the solution to a liquid damaged iPhone, however we have never seen an iPhone that has had all of all of the liquid drawn out by this approach. The truth is, though rice does a great job of absorbing liquids that may be "loose" but there are many small and tight connections where liquid will sit. This standing liquid will begin to bridge electrical components that should not be touching causing components of your iPhone to stop working. Many times this results in unrepairable burt chips, connectors and cables inside your iPhone. Save time and money, just bring it in.
Many Mac/Macbook repairs can be completed within one business day. Often, if dropped off early enough, that means getting them back that very same day. If we have to order a specific part we will simply take a small deposit and let you use your laptop during the shipping period. Once the keyboard, trackpad, lcd or any other small components are in, we will schedule a time that works best for you to drop off your Mac/Macbook.
Most repairs do not require us to have to special order any parts, if we do however it depends on which or our suppliers we can get the parts from. We will first check with our local suppliers and move further away from there. If we can find the part locally the turn around is usually 1-2 business days. If we have to order from a not so local distributor then it is about 2-4 business days on average.

YES. Any repair not performed by Apple or an authorized service center (here) will void your Apple warranty. With that in mind many of the repairs we offer will not be offered by Apple or their service centers as they will merely "recommend" a new computer, that is why we choose to stay independent. Secondly, because we are not forced to purchase parts directly from Apple we can source many of our vendors around the world and save you hundreds of dollars! All of our parts are quality and OEM parts, we know how to find the best deals without sacrificing quality. Lastly, we operate with honesty and integrity, we will always inform you if Apple covers something under a recall or warranty. We want you to be our clients for life, even if that means sending some of you to the Apple store for repairs. We understand honesty is the best policy.
